For Today –

It is in deep solitude that I find the gentleness with which I

can truly love my brothers. The more solitary I am the more

affection I have for them…. Solitude and silence teach me

to love my brothers for what they are, not for what they say.

Recovery Quotes / 12 Steps To Recovery / 12 Stepology

For Today --

When men and women pour so much alcohol into themselves that

they destroy their lives, they commit a most unnatural act. Defying

their instinctive desire for self-preservation, they seem bent upon

self-destruction. They work against their own deepest instinct.

Birthdays

There are no birthdays today

When a person drowns himself in negative thinking he is committing an unspeakable crime against himself. ~ Maxwell Maltz

Birth of a God Box

Each god box is unique . They start from oak trees in Julian, California. But instead of being cut for fire wood they transform into a fine piece of art. The wood is brought down to my shop in Encinitas ,California, where I personally hand carve each individual box. They are sanded then finished with non-toxic Tung oil. Polished with organic soapstone, made up of pure carnauba wax and walnut oil. Each box is perfect in its imperfection. No two boxes are the same. What starts out looking like lump of wood, turns out to be an inspired piece of art. Its beauty is a gift of mother nature.

What is a God Box ?

A place to put a prayer, issues, good wishes to someone, or to unload anything that is troubling you. It has been used in different cultures, 12 step programs and various spiritual organizations

Recovery Quotes / 12 Steps To Recovery / 12 Stepology

For Today -- I do not hold with those who believe that alcoholism is entirely a problem ofmental control. I have had many men who had, for example, worked a periodof months on some problem or business deal which was to be settled on acertain date, favorably to them. They took a drink a day or so prior to the date, and then the phenomenon of craving at once became paramount to all otherinterests so that the important appointment was not met. These men werenot drinking to escape; they were…See More

Recovery Quotes / 12 Steps To Recovery / 12 Stepology

For Today – Defiance may be defined as a quality that permits an individualto snap his fingers in the face of reality and live on unperturbed. It has two special values for handling life situations. In the firstplace, defiance, certainly with alcoholics, is a surprisinglyeffective tool for managing anxiety or reality, both of which areso often a source of anxiety. If you defy a fact and say it is not soand can succeed in doing so unconsciously, you can drink to theday of your death, forever…See More
