For Today –

As soon as a man can say that he does believe, or is willing to believe,  we

emphatically assure him that he is on his way. It has been repeatedly proven

among us that upon this simple cornerstone a wonderfully effective spiritual

structure can be built.

For Today –

I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink

I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink

I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink …..

….. I’d give you everything I’ve got for a little peace of mind.

-- Lennon/McCartney

For Today –

Each person is like an actor who wants to run the whole show;

is forever trying to arrange the lights, the ballet, the scenery

and the rest of the players in his own way. If his arrangements

would only stay put, if only people would do as he wished, the

show would be great. Everybody, including himself, would be

pleased. Life would be wonderful.

For Today --

We believe, and so suggested a few years ago, that the action of alcohol on these

chronic alcoholics is a manifestation of an allergy; that the phenomenon of craving

is limited to this class and never occurs in the average temperate drinker. These

allergic types can never safely use alcohol in any form at all; and once having formed

the habit and found they cannot break…

Recovery Quotes / 12 Stepology@facebook / 12 Stepology

I will always listen deeply to you, but I will never try to fix you, mend you, stop you feeling what you are feeling or give you second-hand, memorized answers. I will never pretend to be 'the one who knows', 'the enlightened one' or some missionary for a conceptual truth so far removed from real-time, immediate, first-hand present experience. I will not get into drama with you, I will not indulge and feed your stories and mental conclusions and fears, I will not mistake who you are…

-20 in 14 by twelve steps.

Is it possible?

Step 1  I am powerless.

But these scrapes can generally be charged, no matter how bad, to the

abnormal action of alcohol on his mind. When drinking, or getting over

a bout, an alcoholic, sometimes the model of honesty when normal, will

do incredible things. Afterward, his revulsion will be terrible. Nearly

always, these antics indicate nothing more than temporary conditions.

For Today –

When men are most sure and arrogant they are commonly most mistaken,

giving views to passion without that proper deliberation which alone can

secure them from the grossest absurdities.

For Today --

All of us have felt resentment, but most of us have never stopped to

analyze our resentments. We have spent plenty of time looking at

what other people have done to us; we've gotten angry at them, and

maybe we've spent some time figuring out how to get even with them.

But that's as far as most of us have gone. We have never really looked

at our resentments or…

Being still inexperienced and having just made conscious

contact with God, it is not probable that we are going to be

For Today --

Lack of power, that was our dilemma. We had to find a power by which we

could live, and it had to be a Power greater than ourselves. Obviously. But

where and how were we to find this Power?  Well, that's exactly what this

book is about. Its main object is to enable you to find a Power greater than

yourself which will solve your problem. That means we have written a book

which we believe to be spiritual…

Recovery Quotes / 12 Stepology@facebook / 12 Stepology

For Today –

Perhaps the best thing of all for me is to remember that my serenity is

inversely proportional to my expectations. The higher my expectations

of Max and other people are, the lower is my serenity. I can watch my

serenity level rise when I discard my expectations. But then my “rights”

try to move in, and they, too, can force my serenity level down. I have to

discard my “rights,” as well as my expectations, by…

Character-building through suffering might be all

Recovery Quotes / 12 Stepology@facebook / 12 Stepology

For Today --

If, when you honestly want to, you find you cannot quit entirely, or if when

drinking, you have little control over the amount you take, you are probably

alcoholic. If that be the case, you may be suffering from an illness which

only a spiritual experience will conquer.

To one who feels he is an atheist or agnostic such an experience seems

impossible, but to continue as…

Recovery Quotes / 12 Stepology@facebook / 12 Stepology

For Today --

We must avoid quick-tempered criticism and furious, power-driven argument.

The same goes for sulking or silent scorn. These are emotional booby traps

baited with pride and vengefulness. Our first job is to sidestep the traps. When

we are tempted by the bait, we should train ourselves to step back and think.

For we can neither think or act to good purpose until the habit of self-restraint

has become…

For Today --

To see how erratic emotions victimized us often took a long time.

We could perceive them quickly in others, but only slowly in ourselves.

First of all, we had to admit we had many of these defects, even though

such disclosures were painful and humiliating. Where other people were

concerned, we had to drop the word "blame" from our speech and thought.

For Today --

Though I still find it difficult to accept today's pain and anxiety with

any great degree of serenity -- as those more advanced in the spiritual

life seem able to do -- I can give thanks for present pain nevertheless.

I find the willingness to do this by contemplating the lessons learned from

past suffering -- lessons which have led to the blessings I now…

Were we kind and loving toward all?

We are not obliged to like anyone; but we are under a

binding obligation to love everyone, love, or charity as

the Bible calls it, meaning a vivid sense of impersonal

Bite marks on our tongues, Part II

An Al-Anon friend passed out a page of slogans and other gems at a meeting and I put it up on my bulletin board.

My favorite part is the “comments to use” section, which consists of brief sentences to use when you’re talking to someone who is drunk, deluded or just plain crazy.

Example: your hard-drinking spouse says, “I’m just going to have two.”

You’re thinking: You’ve never had two drinks in your life! Here comes another binge in…
